Back in 2007, I was all about the indie rave scene. If a night out didn’t involve hearing the Crystal Castles remix of Klaxon’s Atlantis to Interzone, the Soulwax remix of MGMT’s Kids and the Soulwax remix of Gossip’s Standing in the Way of Control, I didn’t want to hear about it.
New Young Pony Club’s Ice Cream was another staple of that time. The band followed up their first album, Fantastic Playroom, with The Optimist in 2010 but failed to make much of an impact on the charts.
This year they’re making a defiant comeback. Dropping the four-word band name for a four-letter acronym, NYPC have scaled back membership of the Pony Club to three members but have retained all the musical prowess that I fell in love with six years ago.
